Overview
IS&T utilizes a virtual infrastructure whenever possible. Virtual machines (VM) or virtual servers are more resilient and cost significantly less than physical servers to purchase, maintain and upgrade. VMs are housed in Harding University's main data center, can be backed up nightly and even replicated to the disaster recovery site depending on the business need.
Eligibility/Cost
Any Harding University or Academy department that has need of a server for official Harding purposes can request a server be provisioned. The cost per virtual machine is a one-time $1,500 and is handled through FOAP transfers.
Getting Started
Please consult the application or service vendor for their recommended minimum specifications for the server, what operating systems are supported and any special considerations or recommendations that need to be addressed.
