The end is in sight!
The construction of the library addition is nearly complete. The second floor is essentially complete. The first floor is nearing completion and should be complete by May 1.
The move had been scheduled to begin March 23, but there was a double booking by the moving company, so the start date of the move will be June 1. The process will be to load books onto carts, dismantle the shelves they were on, reassemble the shelves in Searcy and move the books back onto them. We don't yet have a date when the first books will arrive, but the schedule for the move to be complete is 8 weeks, so all material, collection and archives, is scheduled to be in place in Searcy by July 25.
There has been a lot of work by the librarians, both in Memphis and Searcy, to get ready for the move. The librarians and staff have already moved the microfilm and microfiche, along with fragile items from the archives.
They are working hard to make this a smooth transition for the students, and they are making sure that all the resources will be easily accessible. It will be a very busy summer for sure, but we are looking forward to having the theology collection here on the Harding campus.
