Body
The library has been busy this past school year getting ready for the Harding School of Theology (HST) students who will begin classes on the Searcy campus in the fall. As the campus in Memphis will be closing, the library collection will be moving to Searcy. The plan is to use the unoccupied space in the building on Race Street where the Harding Academy’s Robotic team currently resides. Over the coming school year, renovations will be done on this building with plans to move the collection to Searcy by the fall of 2025. An entrance will be created on the south side of the building facing the McInteer building providing a direct path across the parking area to the library collection.
The library team is already working behind the scenes as online resources and the online catalog system are being updated. Even with the physical collection still in Memphis, procedures are being put in place so that the HST students will be able to access the resources that they need during this transition period. Assistant Professor Whitney Hammes, the past Instruction and Outreach Librarian, has moved into the role of Theological Librarian, working directly with these students and teaching the required Advanced Theological Research class.
