Information on Cisco Webex

Webex Teams/Team Meetings allows you to create specific teams that you can share information with easily and efficiently. It offers some key features that could be very useful for classrooms or projects:

  • Team Meetings: This allows anyone in the team to start a meeting at the touch of a button. No need to worry about someone hosting the meeting, and if the person that started the meeting has to leave, the rest of the team can continue on without worry of someone else needing to host the meeting. You can also schedule the meetings to have it send a reminder message to your team if you want to schedule a meeting for a specific time or date.
  • Secure Group Messaging: You can quickly and easily send important information via the group message for your team without having to worry about your message potentially getting lost in the clutter of someone's inbox. This allows you to easily respond to someone's message immediately or allows you to flag it to remind you to respond later. All the messages are saved in that specific team so you will not have to worry about mixing up messages between teams.
  • File Sharing: Quickly and easily share important documents and files between you and your team. These are all saved alongside your communications so that they are easily found and organized. You can also share your screen if it is not something that needs to be sent to the team as a file or message.
  • Whiteboard: Sometimes using a sketch or drawing to explain something can get the point across much more quickly and efficiently. Open the whiteboard on your device to create an interactive drawing on the whiteboard and share it in the team chat. You and the team can iterate the whiteboard whether or not you're in a live meeting.

Webex Meetings works similarly to Team Meetings, but it is a personal meeting space. Once you create your account, you will have a personal meeting room at the following address, where "username" is replaced with your Harding username:

This will allow you to host meetings personally and allow others to join by sending them a link to join the meeting or by having them go to your direct link (above with your username). The biggest difference between Team Meetings and Meetings is that someone is the dedicated host for the meeting in Webex Meetings, and if they must leave before the meeting is over they must designate someone else as the host prior to leaving the meeting.
