Banner has the ability to store any number of email addresses for a person. There are two main characteristics for each of these addresses. One is the type, for example Home, Business, Parents, Harding. The other is a preferred indicator which can only be set on one email address per person.
Because it is a school policy that each student is responsible for checking their Harding email address (<name>@harding.edu), there is an automated nightly process that changes the preferred email address for anyone who is classified as a Current Student (for more information, see Current Student Role Definition). After they are no longer a Current Student, a different email address can be selected as preferred. This is available to the person through Pipeline and can be done by Harding employees through the Banner page GOAEMAL.
