Google Account Information for Alumni, Former Employees, Retirees, and More

Everyone should now be aware that Google has made some significant changes in how they administer our Google Workspace account.  Because of these changes, as well as security requirements from the federal GLBA regulations, we need to make some changes in how we manage all Harding accounts.   Here’s what is happening:

  • If you are a current student, current employee or a retiree, you will be able to keep your account with a storage quota as outlined below:
    • Current students – 50 GB
    • Current employees – 100 GB
    • Retirees meeting the “rule of 80” – 100 GB
  • Alumni and former employees who did not meet the official “rule of 80” for retirement will lose their accounts on June 15, 2024
  • Decisions about Adjunct accounts will be determined by IS&T and the Provost Office
  • Beginning with the graduating class of May 2024, all graduating seniors (or students not returning to the University) will have their account deleted 9 months after their last enrollment date
  • ALL remaining accounts with an @harding.edu email address are required to use MFA – multi-factor authentication – for security reasons
    • Current students and employees are already using MFA
    • Retirees will be instructed on how to set it up soon

These changes are necessary for us to comply with the guidelines that we have been given.  Please refer to these TecHU articles for assistance in decreasing your storage quota if necessary.
