Library Database Access Controls

Overview

In general, the following types of people have access to library materials:

  • current students defined as someone who is enrolled in an upcoming class, current class, or has been enrolled recently enough to not require readmission to the university (effectively they have not skipped a fall or spring semester) (SFAREGS/SFBETRM)
  • current employees defined as someone who is an active employee in the HR/Payroll system (PEAEMPL/PEBEMPL)
  • current (or future) adjuncts, preceptors, visiting professors, and HU Online consultants defined as people who are scheduled to teach a class currently or in the future or who are a Preceptor, Visiting Professor, or HU Online Consultant (SIAINST/SIBINST).

Also students are only allowed access to the library on the campus at which they are enrolled (Searcy or Memphis).

There are two Active Directory groups that the library uses in their system to control access to materials, Cursearcylibrary and Curmemphislibrary.

There are two Banner roles codified in GORRSQL that control those AD groups: INTCOMP/CURSEARCYLIBRARY and INTCOMP/CURMEMPHISLIBRARY.

If a person does not have one of those and should, the first thing is to go into Pipeline People Search, Admin Tools and click On-demand sync.  It may take a few minutes for the roles to get to Active Directory.  Then they can be seen in People Search under Roles & Access.

If that still doesn't give the desired results, the next step is to pull the code for the particular GORRSQL record and debug it to find out what might be missing.
